Community Herbalist Program 2012
in service to the plants and our community
presented by the Florida School of Holistic Living (501c3)
Many of you have been called by the plants into service. You have been amazed and transformed by the wisdom of the plants, and you desire to share it with those around you. If the green path is speaking to you, then you are student whom the Community Herbalist Program is designed for. The Community Herbalist Program is an intensive journey into the world of professional herbalism (though students who wish to deepen their knowledge for personal use only are still welcomed and encouraged to join us). We will start on the new moon in September by setting our intentions and creating a sense of clarity around the journey before us. We will deeply explore the herbs in our Materia Medica, and the herbs in the wild around us through research, presentations, and plant walks. We will work with ourselves, our family, and those in the community supervised by professional herbalists to grow more comfortable and confident in our sharing of this wisdom.
The Community Herbalist Program includes rich, guided hands-on study, as well as group sharing, group discussions and lectures, herb walks, consultation clinics, written assignments, and ceremony. We will seek to call forth the spirit of nature within us, and ask it to be present with us to guide us along the path. Each student will have the opportunity to explore those aspects of Community Herbalism that are most important to their journey – be it medicine-making, herb cultivation, or client consultations – while all students will be deeply immersed in all three areas for a well-rounded educational experience.
The 2012 schedule for the Community Herbalist Program will be published in April 2012. Classes begin in September and graduation is held in April.
In addition to class dates, Clinic Dates are scheduled individually
Tuition is $2600-2200 sliding scale. It includes a course notebook, 88 class hours, and 12 Clinical Practicums. We use Nancy and Michael Phillips' The Herbalist's Way for our textbook in addition to books used in the Family Herbalist program. A $250 Deposit is required to reserve your space. A monthly payment plan of $295- $245 July-March is available. The sliding scale enables us to offer the classes to those who are unable to afford the full cost of the class. If you are able to pay the high end of the sliding scale please do, so that we can continue to offer a discount to those who truly need to pay at the lower end of the scale. The top end of the sliding scale reflects the true cost of the class. Thank you for your cooperation and participation.
