Workshop Series: The Art of Sustainable Living
Join us for an informative and empowering series of workshops to discuss and analyze sustainable living, and apply concepts to one’s own lifestyle.

Workshops are offered as individual classes for $25, or enjoy the entire series for $125. Students will be provided valuable, practical information to integrate into their daily lives. Must pre-register as course is limited to 15 students.
Workshop 4: Building Materials and Indoor Air Quality
Students will complete the workshop with ways to understand their own shopping habits, how to increase recycled content in items they purchase, and how to improve their indoor air quality.
Goals/Learning Objectives:
Understand what renewable materials are and how they are available
Understand principles of regional materials
Understanding recycling, reusing materials, and what certified wood is
Understand volatile organic chemicals (VOC) and how to analyze VOC content
Green Label, Green Seal programs
Workshop: Using their own residences, students will analyze their existing buildings and how materials are used. Any additions and/or renovations being contemplated can also be used as a basis for analysis. Bringing in photos of their property, students will be able to analyze items such as:
Recyling tips and tricks
Ways to shop for recycled, renewable, and reused materials
Ways to shop for materials without VOC content
Students taking these workshops will gain an understanding of sustainability related to landscape, architecture, and interior design, both for their own residences and for their community.
Each workshop explores a different question, and the workshops can be taken individually or as an entire class series.
