Family Herbalist Certification Program 2010
Our Family Herbalist Certification program is a twenty-six module course that empowers students to care for the everyday health imbalances they face as a family caretaker. It is an excellent program for those wishing to care for their children, their parents, and themselves fully and sustainably.
We believe in preparing students to live in sustainable health. These modules provide students with a strong, comprehensive herbal education, covering individual herbs, herb cultivation, anatomy and physiology, alternative health modalities, plant chemistry and botany, nutrition, detoxification, medicinal formulation, and a wide spectrum of herbal preparations. Modules may be taken in any sequence, with the exception of Personal Wellness I and II and the final written assessment. The complete program includes over 65 classroom contact hours and the study of over 200 herbs. This course may be the greatest investment you will ever make in the long-term health of you and your family.
Students who graduate from this Certification program graduate with the experience and knowledge to care for themselves and the health of their families' most common illnesses. This program is not intended to fulfill educational requirements for those seeking to integrate herbalism into a professional, clinical setting – rather, it is the first step in that journey, and serves as the prerequisite to our Community Herbalist Certification program. It is our philosophy that to care for the health of others, we must first learn self-care. Thus, we have structured our program to provide you personal tools and experience which form a strong foundation on which to build your professional studies. Prospective students who have completed studies with other institutions or herbalists should contact our office about transferring credits.

For Current Students
Our Family Herbalist program has been reformatted based on feedback of students like you, to offer the most effective and relevant curriculum we can. If you are currently taking classes towards your Family Herbalist certification, it is our goal to make the transition into the new format as seamless as possible. Because our Materia Medica is now formatted by body system, we recognize that in these modules, some information will be review and other information will be new, and want to ensure you receive credit for the work you have completed, while not missing any new information in the process. We will offer tuition credit for you to use towards Herbal Therapeutics modules so that you can cover all of the course material. If you are seeking to accelerate the completion of your program, we may offer you written assessments in lieu of taking Herbal Therapeutics modules, but still advise you to take the modules using the tuition credit for the most comprehensive education.
If you completed Level 1 Family Herbalism in Fall 2009, you have completed the Medicine Walk module. You will receive $200 in tuition credit for Herbal Therapeutics modules, and you will receive full tuition credit for the Chemical and Nutritional Constituent module, as this module covers additional information not covered in your class.
