Relaxing Summertime Herbal Tea Blend Recipe

Now that summer is coming to an end, the kids are getting ready to go back to school and the family is beginning  to settle into their new routines for the upcoming school year, now is a good time to carve out some “me time” in your new routine.

A delicious hot cup of a relaxing herbal tea blend while soaking in a warm scented herbal bath sounds just divine to me, don’t you agree?

Heres a recipe for one of my favorite relaxing herbal tea blends.

Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend Recipe

Step 1: Place equal parts of the following herbs in a jar with a tight fitting lid:

  • Chamomile – Matricaria chamomilla
  • Oatstraw – Avena sativa
  • Catnip – Nepeta cataria
  • Holy Basil – Ocimum tenuiflorum

Step 2: Stir  or shake the jar until the herbs are well blended.

Step 3: Place 1 Tablespoon of herb blend in a tea strainer or a reusable muslin tea bag, place the strainer or tea bag in your favorite tea cup or make yourself feel really special use your best fine china tea cup.

Step 4: Pour 8 ounces of boiling water over herbs, cover and let steep 15-20 minutes.

Step 5: Drink while soaking in a warm scented herbal bath.

For a really relaxing aromatic bath place some Chamomile or Lavender into a reusable muslin tea bag, tie the bag closed, hold under warm water as you fill the tub, allow the bag to float in the water as you soak for a continuous aromatic scent. When you’re done bathing dump out the herbs, remember to save them for your compost pile or just scatter them in the garden, rinse the muslin bag, allow to air dry & use again in your next time. Keep an eye out for a bath bombs recipe in an upcoming article.
