This class is an excellent opportunity to study some of the herbs that are most used in traditional herbalism around Latin America. We will cover some cultural knowledge, a brief history of usage, some contemporary uses, and their importance for people around the continent. This class will be taught mostly in Spanish with an emphasis on learning Spanish names and Spanish terminology related to the work with plants. This class can be useful to advanced Spanish learners as well as Spanish speakers that want to learn more about specific terminology and the uses of these herbs.
Esta clase es una excelente oportunidad para estudiar un poco más acerca de las “hierbas” básicas mas usadas através de Latinoamérica. Haremos reconocimiento cultural, una breve historia de su uso y iremos un poco más adentro de sus usos e importancia para las personas através del continente. Esta clase va a ser en su mayoría en Español para aprender los términos básicos en Español relacionados a estas plantas. Esta clase puede ser útil para personas con Español fluido o avanzado o Hispano hablantes que deseen conocer mas sobre estas plantas.
Class Objective:
- To support a wholesome view of traditional/folk herbalism in this continent.
Para apoyar una vista holistica de el herbalismo tradicional en este continente. - To learn the names of the 10 herbs in Spanish and their uses.
Aprender los nombres de estas 10 plantas en Español y sus usos. - To support basic Spanish learning with an herbalist view.
Apoyar el aprendizaje del Español con un enfoque herbalistico. - To facilitate Spanish comprehension and to support Spanish-speaking communities that you work with.
Facilitar la comprensión del Español y apoyar a las comunidades de habla Hispana para trabajar con ellas. - To respect and appreciate traditional herbalism.

HOW TO ACCESS YOUR LIVE OR ON-DEMAND CLASS:
Once you have registered and paid for your class, log into the website (HolisticLivingSchool.org) using the user name and password you created when registering. If you forgot your password, don’t worry… just click “forgot password” and you will receive a link in the email you used to sign up. Click the reset link and reset your password.
Once you have logged in, you will see the list of classes you have registered for. You will simply click on your class and follow the instructions.

Johana nació y creció en Colombia, y es la persona detrás de MamaTortuga.org, un sitio web multicultural, eco-consciente, y bilingüe para padres y comunidad que desea criar con una vision global por los últimos ocho años. Ella esta criando dos hijis multiculturales y multilingües con su pareja Hondureña en el Sur de la Florida, hablando e aprendiendo varios idiomas. Amante de la naturaleza, cultura e idiomas, una cuidadora de plantas, herbalista tradicional y con una historia en Antropología y Enfermería. Ha servido como abogada de padres en su distrito escolar, y participado en diferentes eventos comunitarios atraves de la Florida (Florida Herbal Conference, Día de Muertos Lake Worth Beach, Spanish Conversational Groups and Spanish Nature Playgroups) Y en el Norte de Carolina (Firefly Gathering). Ella ha también colaborado con varios sitios web (Multicultural Kids Blogs, Spanish Mama, Raising World Children, Barefoot cards, etc) y projectos alrededor de su ciudad West Palm Beach, Florida y hasta el día de hoy, continua apoyando esfuerzos para formar comunidad por medio de la abogacía, educación y el cuidado de las plantas. Ella cree que “necesitamos ser el cambio que deseamos ver en el mundo” y que nuestra misión como padres y educadores es empoderar a otres para que ofrezcan sus regalos unicos para el beneficio común de toda su comunidad. Ella ofrece clases de Inglés y Español, habla en conferencias y apoya organizando eventos que son significativos, eco-conscientes y buscan al justicia y la revelación propia de nuestras conecciones multiculturales y relaciones. Ella es la organizadora de “Moon Talk for Teenage Girls and Moon Talks for Women classes in West Palm Beach FL”. Ella esta celebrando su Nuevo libro de colaboración “Raising The Global Mindset” con una verdadera colaboración global con mujeres através del mundo para elevar la consciencia global, multicultural y anti-racista para la familia.
Johana was born and raised in Colombia and is the sole person behind Mama Tortuga.org, a multicultural, conscious, and mindful bilingual website for parents that want to raise global citizens. She is raising two multicultural and multilingual children with her Honduran partner in South Florida, speaking and learning various languages. Johana is a backyard gardener, has a background in anthropology and nursing studies, and is a lover of nature, culture, and languages. She has served as a parent advocate in her local school board and has participated in several mindful community events around Florida (Florida Herbal Conference, Dia de Los Muertos Lake Worth Beach, Spanish Conversational Groups, and Spanish Nature Playgroups) and in North Carolina (Firefly Gathering). She has also collaborated with multiple organizations (Multicultural Kids Blogs, Spanish Mama, Raising World Children, Barefoot cards, etc) and projects around her city of West Palm Beach, Florida and to this day keeps supporting community-building efforts in her community through advocacy, education, and gardening. She believes that “we need to be the change we want to see in the world” and that our mission as parents and educators is to empower others to offer their unique gifts for the common good of all in their community. She offers classes, speaks at conferences, and supports and organizes events that are mindful, eco-conscious, and look to bring justice and awareness to our multicultural connections and relationships. She is the organizer of Moon Talk for Teenage Girls and Moon Talks for Women classes in West Palm Beach FL.
