Description
In this presentation we will delve into the abundant aspects of Hericeum erinaeus—Lion’s Mane Mushroom. The name Hericium, derived from the Latin word hirtus for rough or shaggy, is clearly reflected in the unique appearance of this white fungus that can be found growing in eastern woodlands. It has been called bearded hedgehog, pom pom mushroom and a host of other names.
Modern science has uncovered multitudes of health promoting properties including neuroprotective agents, enhancement to nerve growth factor (NGF) release, and reducing the formation of proteins that accompany diseases. We’ll review the mechanisms of action from these studied active constituents, including a comparison to the intersecting roles they play in Lion’s Mane health supportive effects.
We will also visit fungus companions of Lions Mane: Chaga, Reishi, Maitake and Cordyceps.
Open to all levels from beginner to advanced.
