Join The Natural Nurse® Ellen Kamhi, PhD, RN, in this 4-part series designed to offer flexibility for students from beginner to advanced levels. Become familiar with the basics of herbal medicine including the terminology and various methods. Discover the importance of the botanical names for plants when communicating with herbal practitioners and to ensure accuracy in your own practice. Learn common herbal “first-aid” for colds, flu, ear infections, stomach upsets, and other mild health issues that can be handled at home. And explore ways to integrate plants into your life, soul, and medicine, plus how to decide which remedy is the “right” one.
Natural Nurse Herbal Certification Course Schedule
Class 1- Basics of Herbal Medicine: Sunday, March 10, 2024 – 9:30 – 11am
Class 2- Botany & Botanical Nomenclature: Sunday, April 14, 2024 – 9:30 – 11am
Class 3- Using Herbs for Yourself and Your Family: Sunday, May 19, 2024 – 9:30 – 11am
Class 4- Feeling the Consciousness of Plants: Sunday, June 9, 2024 – 9:30 – 11am
The class sessions are offered Live via Zoom on the scheduled dates below. All registrants will receive course recordings and handouts, with access to materials for one year. If you miss a class, you can make it up anytime via the archived class recording.
Assignments can be emailed to the instructor. Capstone Herbal Preparation Project will need to be ‘snail-mailed’ to the instructor. All attendees who complete the full series and submit all assignments will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Florida School of Holistic Living.
Participants can choose to take the full course, or any one of the modules, for their own personal learning, without paying the accreditation fee.
18 CEUs are available to Acupuncturists, Massage Therapists, Dietitians and Nutritionists, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Acupuncture Physicians & Midwives in the state of Florida through CE Broker for students who successfully complete the entire course through attendance and submission of assignments. Basics of Herbal Medicine
Sun March 10, 2024 – 9:30 am – 11 am
Essential vocabulary, such as the difference between extracts, tinctures, capsules, infusions, and decoctions, standardized, holistic balance, as well as the safety and efficacy of herbal medicines.
Botany & Botanical Nomenclature
Sun April 14, 2024 – 9:30 am – 11 am
This class covers the importance of Latin names when communicating with other herbalists, the Doctrine of Signatures, Identification of Plant Families, and edible, medicinal, and poisonous specific plants within several families.
Using Herbs for Yourself and Your Family
Sun May 19, 2024 – 9:30 am – 11 am
This class covers common herbal “first aids” for colds and flu, ear infections, stomach upsets, and other mild health issues that can be handled at home, that can help cut down on the use of potentially problematic pharmaceutical interventions.
Feeling the Consciousness of Plants
Sun June 9, 2024 – 9:30 am – 11 am
Since ancient times, people have experienced plant communication. We are now validating this reality with scientific investigation. Learn how to integrate plants into your life, soul, and medicine, and how to decide which remedy is the “right” one. Learn simple plant dowsing techniques and consider herb-drug interactions.
Students may register for a single class, or for the full four-part series. When you buy the entire series, you save $25 on the total price and have 18 CUEs available. The individual classes are $50 each. Each class has 3 CEUs available, with the Continuing Education fee required for each one. Should you decide you want the full series after trying a single class, that option is available with an add-on fee.
